Greta Thunberg in Skopje – Guest Speaker at “Stop the War Machine” Discussion at Dunja

This Friday, renowned climate activist Greta Thunberg will be a guest in Skopje at a discussion organized by Fridays for Future Skopje, All for Palestine, and the Social Center “Dunja”. The event is titled “Stop the War Machine: The Fight Against Imperialism and Capitalist Wars.”

The discussion will address the global rise in war and exploitation driven by capitalism’s endless hunger for new markets. From the war in Ukraine, to Western imperialist interventions in Africa, to the genocide carried out by the Israeli state against Palestinians in Gaza – violence is being normalized in the name of profit and market dominance.

Greta Thunberg, a symbol of youth-led resistance against climate and social injustice, will speak about how the climate crisis, war, and imperialism are deeply interconnected – all symptoms of the same destructive system.

Macedonia is not neutral in this picture. As a NATO member, it supports militaristic policies, increases its defense budget, votes against Palestinian rights at the UN, and collaborates with the Israeli apartheid regime. On the domestic front, new energy extraction projects – including mines, solar farms, and small hydro plants – threaten local communities and ecosystems, with Doshnica being a prime example.

This event calls for collective resistance – the building of a mass anti-war and anti-capitalist movement that stands in solidarity with oppressed peoples worldwide. For all who refuse to stay silent.
