Open Call Announced for the 58th World Gallery of Cartoons – Skopje 2026

The international exhibition invites cartoonists worldwide to apply for the 58th edition of the World Gallery of Cartoons in Skopje, with the submission deadline set for 31 May 2026.

OSTEN – World Gallery of Cartoons has announced the official open call for participation in the 58th World Gallery of Cartoons – Skopje 2026, continuing one of the longest-running international exhibitions dedicated to caricature and visual satire. The deadline for applications and for the arrival of artworks is 31 May 2026.

The call is open to cartoonists from around the world. To apply, artists are required to complete the official application form, either electronically or by hand, and submit it via email to cartoons@osten.com.mk, together with a photograph, short biography, and digital images of the submitted works. In addition to the digital submission, the same works must also be sent by post, whether original or digitally printed, numbered and signed, along with a printed and signed application form.

All postal submissions should be sent to OSTEN – World Gallery of Cartoons, “8-ma Udarna Brigada” 2, 1000 Skopje, North Macedonia, clearly marked as No commercial value – for exhibition only. Each artwork must include the artist’s name, country, and title written on the back.

The organizational process for the 58th edition of the exhibition will unfold in four phases. The application phase runs until the end of May 2026, followed by the selection of participating artists in June. The jury process and announcement of finalists will take place between July and August, while the awarded cartoonists will be announced in September 2026. The official exhibition and award ceremony are scheduled for November and December 2026 in Skopje.

A range of international awards will be presented as part of this year’s edition. These include the Grand Prix for Lifetime Achievement, awarded by OSTEN’s ambassadors, as well as first and second prizes, five third prizes, and five special awards, all decided by an international jury. In addition, the “Cico” Award for a Macedonian cartoonist will be granted by the OSTEN Council, honoring the legacy of renowned Macedonian caricaturist Vasilije Popović – Cico.
